I left Connecticut Wednesday morning to drive to Pennsylvania to visit my kids
and watch the Phillies game on my Son's big screen. He invited me down last
week. I got there, spent some time with them and my Grand-daughters and then my Son
and Daughter said, let's go get a bunch of hoagies and cheese steaks for the
game. We got in my Daughter's car and started driving. After a while, I said I
thought we were going a long way to buy hoagies. They laughed and said it was a
tradition and good luck to buy them from this special deli they liked. After
another ten or fifteen minutes, I jokingly said "We're not getting hoagies are
we? We're going to the game." With that, my Son handed me tickets and said "You
can have the aisle seat if you want it. Happy Retirement!" We WERE going to the game!
Unbelievable! My first time in Citizens Bank Park, my first Phillies game in
probably 15 years, and the clinching game of the pennant race. A night I'll
never forget! What a surprise it was. What great kids I have! What an honor and
thrill to have been there! Go Phils!
