Yeah, becoming a virtual ghost of one's self. The internet is like a gift given to us by a sophisticated alien civilization. The vastness of it potential seems amazing, yet the vast majority of it's users use it for porn, gambling and social networking. Why show your true self to world when you can conjure up a "better and new and improved" you? On the web we are Gods, we are the beautiful people we dreamed about becoming. We are fragments of ourselves within an electronic alternate reality. We become junkies, strung out on microcircuits and fractured dreams. I pressed the refresh button until all that was left was a shadow of my former self: disjointed, humming, shorting out like a dying light bulb. Time crashed and burned as I became part of the current pulsing in and out of the DSL line. Today I died online and I never realized it...
