I'm not a fan of io9. The website seems to miss the point of what SF is about. I can't read the site because I find myself yelling obscenities at the computer screen, and people look over the cubicle walls and ask if I'm all right. (I have strong opinions about what SF should and should not be.)
On the positive side, io9 is a high traffic site and the review is pretty good. I disagree with the conclusion about the characters not being weird enough. I think they are very three dimensional and they felt real. The reviewer seemed to want caricatures and not flesh and blood.
I'm looking forward to Bleak Dreams, Bleak World, or Bleak Future, or whatever the sequel will be called.
