Terrance McKenna: Could meditating on a mushroom have killed him?

I heard he died of a mushroom-shaped growth on his brain. I wonder if he went around meditating on the shape of the mushroom all the time, & it inspired a mushroom-shaped growth at the location he most commonly visualized it.

Probably far fetched, but I'll bet it could happen.
