One of the things that conservative pundits were faux, faux upset about was a bullet point in a curriculum guide suggesting that students write with ideas on how they can help the president.
From a speech by Bush 41 in 1991:
"Let me know how you're doing. Write me a letter -- and I'm serious about this one -- write me a letter about ways you can help us achieve our goals. I think you know the address."

As I think I've said before . . . facts don't matter. Hypocrisy and inconsistency is irrelevant. Conservative pundits have the formula down cold. As long as the proles are kept angry and indignant, anything goes.
