From Orchid’s den, Anubis lifted his head from his paws where it had been laying all the while. Golden rimmed ears perked to the summons, golden eyes flicking around the large room to Cealia and the small pups. He stood and gave a stretch then turned to the exit and all but left. Before he was out, the young brute looked over his shoulder. “Cealia,” he spoke softly so as not to disturb the newborns. “I’m going to see what this is about. I’ll leave Isis, Apep, Osiris, and Hathor with you. Call if there is trouble.” Flashing the fem a smile he turned back to the den’s exit, a pair of golden edged crows’ wing spreading from his shoulder in a feather ruffle sound. He leapt into the air and was gone, leaving the den to be guarded by his dragons.
Within moments, the black and gold brute landed at his mother’s side just in time to catch her words. Eyes narrowing in slight confusion, Anubis wondered why Seg would want them to answer for him. The dark wolf couldn’t help but wrinkle his nose momentarily, wings giving a rustle before the disappeared from sight. He’d never really met Seg before, only heard of him through the consequences of his grandmother’s death. Now, first impressions being what they were, Anubis found the aging brute to be weak of constitution. He gave his mother a sideways look, his answer plainly etched on his face without words. Growing bored of this nonsense, the wolf’s golden eyes began to wander, landing on the strange, yet strangely familiar, green eyed red wolf. Instinct told him they were connected, instinct also told him that now was not the time to venture on details concerning such matters.
The brute’s golden eyes fell on the arrival of three more, extensions of his own family. His father, Caska, and brother, Caesar, accompanied by the albino gryphon, Legarius. Anubis caught the white creature’s pink eyes, delivering a clear message. He watched as the white gryphon bent down to his father and whispered something in the marbled wolf’s ear. Caska furrowed his brow, coffee hued eyes landing on Seg, but in turn leaned over to his brown and gold son and relayed the message is similar fashion. Both wolves, straightened up, Caska looking to Sen with a slight wag of his tail before falling still and waiting.
Atreides wasn’t far behind Tethe’All. In fact, he and the children remained just behind the crest of the hill and out of sight. However, after just catching his sister-in-law’s words, the sandy wolf figured a more prominent presence was needed of himself. “Alia, Leto,” he spoke in a voice rasped with the years of damage from desert life. Without further words to his children, Atreides gave a flick of his head and lead the way over the hill, blue on blue eyes taking in the growing crowd as he made to step forward beside Tethe. The two tri-colored children stopped behind their mother, Alia only for a moment. The brown, tan, and white fem walked further to where her sister stood, giving a knowing look and sharing her own disappointment. Atreides’ eyes settled on Seg, showing now emotion within. “Why are you going to prolong the inevitable?” he asked with level. Tethe’Alla knew him by now, knew him to be a wolf of many things, but one not being foolishness. Even when the pack had answered, Seg’s word would be the one that caused action to take place.
From her den, Midnight Rei stood slowly on white paws, deep blue eyes looking out to the bright white world outside. She’d been waiting for this. The past few months had been filled with nervousness, the few months had primarily been spent in her den worrying for her father and grieving the loss of her mother in role. Young, thankfully, had been understanding, the boys not so much. Perhaps they would understand had she shared with them the fact that the stars would not talk to her on this matter. Standing slowly, the black and white wolfess looked to her son, Nanaki, and his mossy green dragon friend. “Nanaki, Talula,” she addressed them though they were already attentively awaiting Rei’s words to answer the call. “I’m sure you want to go?”
Nanaki stood quickly, Talula, the Christmas Fungi dragon stirring at his side. “Of course,” the young blind wolf said, tail wagging with excitement. If there were any chance of a battle, the orange and red teen would want to be there. He wished Zack were here, knowing his brother wouldn’t miss it for the world either. The two of them had grown up with a similar ambition, to become great fighters. Witnessing battles was a perfect way to improve and learn. As if he were never blind, Nanaki sped out past his mother, Talula on his tail. He’d inherited his father’s ability to adapt to blindness, using sound waves to determine the whereabouts of various objects. It was with this skill that he managed not to slam into anyone as he joined the large group, mother and dragon at his heels. The young wolf’s orange ears swiveled about non-stop, taking in every movement with their delicate senses. He noticed, with a slight frown, his mother’s worrisome glance toward his grandfather, nudging her cheek for support. His father and siblings would be back from their outing soon. Perhaps that would calm her a bit.
Knowing Armony wouldn’t dare ignore a call for such an important matter, Cloud had taken off at a swift run from where they stood at the Ice Moon Stream without so much as a glance behind him. Even if it weren’t for his mate, he’d surely be there for his old friend. Black Rain, after all, was the one issuing a challenge. The black wolf’s golden paws halted near Sen and her family, golden eyes peering over his shoulder to the spot where Armony was sure to be. He remained quiet, here primarily for moral support of family and friends.
Nastrix was next, only having been a few minutes jog away, but encountering many distractions between here and there. He appeared chipper as always, having the luck of not paying attention to his surroundings and ramming into his sister with a chuckled, “Sorry.” The red wolf’s black fringed tail was waving, an ear swiveling back at a familiar form of footsteps. Surely enough, Solar Shadow approached from somewhere behind her father, remaining a good distance away. The black fem was out of breath, having run all the way from the Hidden Springs to answer the call that she barely heard. Luckily, her long legs and tall build made her fast enough where she wasn’t late for the matters that be.
“What could you possibly need us all for?” her sardonic tone broke over the crowd. Possibly one of the least out-spoken wolves in the pack, Sol was obviously flustered. The fem’s tail gave a flick, icy eyes pinned on Seg. Though she hadn’t been here for whatever anyone else might have said, she figured, judging by most of their character, that others had pretty much voiced the exact same thing. He was alpha, he needed to deal with his own matters. It wasn’t their job to play his role for him. One of Sol’s ears flicked backwards, hoping to hear padding behind her. She really hated to leave Tomahawk behind, but knew that she couldn’t wait for very long. Hopefully he was en tow.
It took a while for Toxikk to decide whether or not to answer the call. She was, after all, not even an official pack member. But surely, seeing as Skott was her mate and all, the rest of them would consider her as such? Catching the teal eyes of her black and white spattered son Hail, the wolfess motioned toward the entrance of the small den she’d dug out. The young pup promptly got up and out, mother following behind on teal paws. The white and lime flecked fem looked about the surrounding area with teal eyes, landing on the small red, black, and gold pup that was busying herself making a pile of leaves and humming. “Rayen,” Toxikk addressed her daughter a bit loudly. The pup continued her busy work, obviously not hearing her mother speak her name. The mostly white fem knew by now that her daughter’s hearing was severely handicapped, and so she wasn’t in the least bit angry. Taking a few steps closer, the wolfess spoke a little more loudly. “Rayen,” her daughter looked to her a bit startled, black rimmed ears twisting at odd angles. Toxikk smiled and continued. “Rayen, the alpha has called the pack to him. I think we should go. Your father will most likely be there.” The pup wagged her tail to show she’d heard and understood, black outlined golden eyes going to her brother to see what direction they were to be headed. She took off on golden paws after Hail, mother behind them. Stopping a just in sight of the horde of pack members, Toxikk and her pups waited for Skott to show up before they inched any further.
