With aversion still wrinkled in the tip of his muzzle, Crepuscule went on: "Sir, I know I haven't contributed my whole piece of meat to the pack, but do I look like a traitor?
"Awhile ago," he continued, "Sen had accused me of murdering a young female wolf not of our pack. Cammi, her name was. I most certainly did not murder her!" To show his anger, Crepuscule jerked his head so he could look at the cliffs to cool off. He went on again after a deep sigh.
"You don't think any of my actions raise suspicion do you, Alpha Seg? I want an honest answer, now!"
Malinke's claws trembled. Her father's moods were so random, even she had a difficult time reading his expressions. She turned away to escape the puzzlement and made animal faces in the snow with her toes.
