In 1964 I had been in Arizona and New Mexico working as a wrangler on a movie. When I returned to North Hollywood, I was invited to live at the Glenn Randall Training Stable. I stayed there for a year or so and got to know Glenn Sr. as well as Glenn's sons Glenn Jr. and Corkey. For a year, every day I was on the inside... a privileged young man... blessed beyond description to be able to watch these men work. Glenn was a genius with a horse. About those Ben Hur horses? Glenn was the trainer of the horses for the movie Ben Hur. Here is the way I remember the story about these horses. When the movie wrapped, Glenn bought a couple of the Chariots, some harness and wardrobe along with some of the horses. All of this was shipped back to the U.S. to Glenn's training stable. All of this Ben Hur stuff was already there when I came to live there. Glenn had created a 'specialty act' that was billed as the Ben Hur Chariot Race. Glenn and his sons hauled this act all over the U.S.A. to the biggest rodeos and horse shows in the country. The first time that I witnessed this show was at The Los Angeles Coliseum in California. I was there to help Glenn look after the horses. The sight and sounds of this chariot race made the hair on the back of your neck stand up. I don't know how else to explain it! In 65 I went to Texas and never returned. That's another story! What ever became of those horses and all of that equipment? I don't know.
