Did you ever find the movie? I have been looking as well and have a little more info when I do a search than I did two years ago.
I, too just loved that movie and book and also was a horse owner for years. My horse genes went to my two daughters, one a top trainer in WA.
My riding days are over, however, now that there are seven animals to choose from.
