Because Lash La Rue's was my Godfather, I will be happy to answer your inquiry. Uncle Lash’s horse in the movies was indeed Black Diamond. He won one of the first animal awards for movies in Hollywood. Unfortunately, I do not know the name of that award. The studio did have Uncle Lash call Black Diamond “Rush”. Black Diamond was a thoroughbred and, because of his high temperament, Uncle Lash could not take him on tour; therefore, he substituted a black quarter horse in his place when he did his popular shows around the country.
