Does anybody out there have any information on Buddy Sherwood and Johnny Goodwin. Their names always come up whenever Peggy Stewart talks about the early days at Republic. Apparently they were wranglers and worked at Hudkins Stables. They always had to go out to the locations to handle the horses. Buddy Sherwood used to play poker with the cowboys and he had a check for $300 from a producer that he never cashed. When it came time to call, he would always pull out the check to boost the ante. The cowboys always figured he had a good hand and they would bow out. He always bluffed them with this routine and wound up taking the pot with nothing more than two deuces. Johnny Goodwin was a small man, who had a glass eye. Sometimes he would wear a patch over the eye. If anybody out there is related to them or knows any more details, please contact me at frontrowkid2002@yahoo.com
