I noticed nobody has mentioned Rex, King of the Wild Horses. He was sixteen hands high and was a Morgan stallion He and Rin-Tin-Tin, the original, were top stars in the Twenties. They even made a serial together in the early Thirties called "Adventures of Rex and Rinty." Rex was a cold black stallion, very smart and very dangerous. He lived up to his billing. Director Bill Witney was working on the serial when Rex got loose one day on the set. Everybody headed for cover. Ernie Adams, the weazel faced actor who always played the sniveling bad guy, tried to hide under a Buick touring car.Rex dropped to his knees, stuck his head under the car, and tried to bite Adams. The trainer Swede Lindel saved the day by cracking the whip and Rex, being whip trained, stopped immediately and calmly walked over to his trainer. It was almost as if he thought it was part of the movie.
