Hi there Dave
Short answer… yes
Now Dave keep it simple I have read some of the other posts and these are not so. The word to Nicodemus helps us here one must be born again to enter the kingdom of God and unless born of water and spirit (two figures of speech here back to back placing an double emphatic on the term spirit.) Goes like this unless you are born of THE SPIRIT you cannot see the kingdom of heaven. The KJV pick up on the figure and places the English definite article “THE” before spirit but it is not in the original. If you can see it your in it, if your cant your not. Why? That which is flesh is flesh and that which is spirit is spirit.
The dispensation of grace is different than when these words were spoken in the third under the law as the resurrection has not yet occurred. But some principals cross all dispensations and this is one of them. Without faith it is impossible to please him this is another so what then is faith “the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen” If you have the faith you have the substance and the faith is the evidence for the hope of resurrection which is the substance. This is the hope of all dispensations jsut ministers by differnt methods
Was and ardent Calvinist for 20 years watch election perverted to all extremes, as Spurgeon said we ought not to delve into secret things to much or we might come unstuck. Separate election from grace, is a kin to separating law, death and sin and you end up with Greek fatalism, ethical salvation by works, we call it the Galatians syndrome. Many a poor believer is walking in the flesh here sowing to the old nature and forgetting the New. Walk in the light as He is in the light cherish that new nature within the gift of the holy spirit to you… by His grace.
Warm regards
RJ
