There is significance of numbers in Scripture. This collection of verses is a little different. These are mentions of things that God numbers, but we cannot, as well as the importance of using the time we have to grow in knowledge.
Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not...Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with Thee, Thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass.
Behold, God is great, and we know Him not, neither can the number of His years be searched out.
Who can number the clouds in wisdom? or who can stay the bottles of heaven?
Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or canst thou number the months that they fulfill? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
He telleth the number of the stars; He calleth them all by their names. Great is our Lord, and of great power: His understanding is infinite.
To whom will ye liken Me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. Lift your eyes on high, and behold Who hath created these things, that bringeth out their hosts by number: He calleth them all by names by the greatness of His might, for that He is strong in power; not one faileth.
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
