(6) Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, (7) Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. (8) Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. (Psa 32:1) 'Blessed' (how happy) 'is he whose transgression' (breaking away, rebellion - referring to thought) 'is forgiven,' (taken up and carried away) 'whose sin' (erring, transgresseion)' is covered' (atoned - by the death and merit of a substituted sacrifice). (Psa 32:2) 'Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not' (forensic or legal righteousness. The NT righteousness is not negative, but positive, for the righteousness of One (Christ) is imputed or accounted to another, as it was to Abraham - Gen.15:6. Rom. 4:13) ' iniquity,' (sin in the nature, rather than breaches of the law in act = perverseness - never eradicated)' and in whose spirit there is no guile.'
