Posted by Chris on 4/6/2007, 5:14 am, in reply to "Malachi 3:16,17 'My Jewels'" In this past week I have helped my granddaughter (10 years old) to make a Torah as part of her school project for the Easter holidays. Using tin foil carboard tubes, empty cereal packets , long lengths of plain paper, material, braid, beads and glue, so that the dining room table was hidden beneath it all. In researching it before she started we looked up the first five books of the Bible and also the clothing of the High priest. It was the breastplate with the jewels imbedded in gold upon it which caught my eye, twelve in all, each inscribed with the name of one of the tribes. To be worn upon the heart( the place of love ) of the High priest as He came in before God in their stead. Exodus 28. Their names were also written on onyx stones placed on each shoulder (the place of strength) as a reminder before the Lord. This made me think of the verses in Malachi, and 'His' jewels spoken of there. I am currently looking at the clothing of the High priest and seeing the types of the Lord which everything represents. The Companion Bible margin is a great source of information on these things, and as I see the types revealed it is a joy to see the person and work of our Lord manifest in all His glory and majesty.
