Posted by Chris (Mal 3:16,17) " Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.(17) And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him." Years ago before coming into the knowledge of the need to 'rightly divide' the Word of God, 'we' (I, and other believers who met together) would look at these verses and apply them to ourselves and think how lovely it was that the Lord thought of 'us' in this way. Now I know that this is not applicable to us, but to believing Israel. 'My Jewels' - precious possession - a peculiar treasure. The Hebrew word used (meaning acquired property) here occurs eight times, in, Exodus 19:5 This is Israel of course, but we know that we are equally precious being his inheritance in heavenly places. Eph. 1:4. Does anyone have anything they can contribute on this subject. Yours in Christ Jesus
