Posted by Chris on 3/24/2007, 5:56 pm, in reply to "Re: His Appearing and His Coming" Thank you for your further points. I can see that the reply to the Corinthians, concerning the resurrection, given by Paul was pertinent to all, regardless of their calling, as you explain in point (1) In regard to the firstfruit and it's application to Israel, I do believe that this is dispensational, and pertains to the calling of Israel, and those of this dispensation who are linked with Israel in being a covenant people. Thank you for pointing out verses 21 & 22, you make a good case here. As you say, 'In Adam' is not dispensational, neither is 'In Christ' dispensational. Let me look at this again, (1Co 15:20) But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. (1Co 15:21) For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. (1Co 15:22) For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. (1Co 15:23) But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. (1Co 15:24) Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. Yes, it seems to be a universal truth along with the others you have mentioned. However the mention of the 'coming' (parousia) here still makes me hesitate, and say that Paul had no knowledge of the further revelation concerning the Body of Christ, with it's further revelation of ascension and seating with Christ and subsequent future manifestation with Him, and so that takes us, who are subject to this further revelation as members of the Body of Christ out of the equation here. Paul was talking to Corinthians, further more to Corinthians to whom he had been only able to talk to in terms of the milk of the Word, and had to refrain from enlightening them concerning the meat available to those who had seen the truth concerning our identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. We who have heard and acknowledged both that, as well as the ascention, seating and manifestation in glory cannot therefore be included in this statement. For although 'in Christ' just like they, our hope is entirely in spirit, and not reliant on a bodily coming. Forgive me, I know that I have probably gone beyond the point here, but must conclude with that. That this was addressed to the people of a prior dispensation and should be left there.
