Posted by Chris on 3/14/2007, 5:15 am, in reply to "Re: Praise" Just one further piece in the pursuit of this word ‘Praise’, “Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to Him shalt thou cleave, and swear by His name. He is thy praise (song of praise), and He is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen. Thy fathers went down into Eqypt with threescore (3x20 + 10 = 70) and now the Lord thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.” Note: ‘The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ ‘- Praise His glorious Name. Looking up the verse, 2 Samuel 7:20 - in relation to the word ’great’ in Deuteronomy 10:20 (a side track) I read what David says : “And what can David say more unto Thee? For Thou, Lord God knowest Thy servant” Words fail David here. That is so much like ourselves at times isn’t it? Very often all we can say is “Oh, Lord, you know.” Because we can’t express how we feel in words. Similarly with another saying of David, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.” Psalm 139:6. Going back to Deuteronomy 10:21, (Strongs H8416 = laudation - a hymn of praise) and the following reference (Deut. 26:19) (Deu 26:18,19) “And the LORD hath avouched thee this day to be his peculiar people, as he hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest keep all his commandments; And to make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise (a hymn of praise), and in name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy people unto the LORD thy God, as he hath spoken.” Israel was made a 'Hymn of Praise' before the nations by God!! How sad it is that it should have been said of Israel later in Romans 2:24 (quoted from Ezek. 36:20,23) “For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written. We are also warned in Titus 2:5 and 1 Timothy 6:1 “To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.” “Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.” The setting of these warnings are in areas where we are most likely to bring the name of our Lord into disrepute - in the home and in the workplace. This really is a word in season. Thank you

Hello Again,
Deuteronomy 10:21 was the next verse in the concordance, (Strongs No.H8416 = ‘laudation‘ - a hymn of praise).
My thoughts dwell on the need to look back at our Christian pathway , see the road that we have travelled with the Lord our God since first coming to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. See the lessons, the revelations we have received concerning Him, from Him. Our God and Saviour, our Head. In doing so He will be our ‘Song of Praise’, as we marvel at His grace, His great love, His power to save.
(1Co 6:20) For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Psalm 149:6 “ Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand;
Chris
