Posted by Chris on 2/28/2007, 3:58 am I found this in the recent edition of 'The Berean Expositor' (delivered this morning) and thought it worth including: (Eph 1:13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, (Eph 1:14) Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. (2Co 1:20) For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. .... (22) Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. An indiscriminate reading of these passages could lead to the conclusion that they were "all one and the same". It will be noted we trust, that the presence of (...) in the quotation of 2 Corinthians 1:20-22 given above, indicates that something has been omitted. if we now add those missing words, we shall wee that while both the Ephesian calling and the Corinthian calling with their promises are 'sealed', 'establishing' and 'anointing' are added to the Corinthian epistle. Now both establishing and anointing refer to the presence and possession of miraculous gifta which were a feature of the Acts period, but bave no place in the dispensation of the Mystery. Bebaioo 2establish2, is found in Mark 16-20, 'CONFIRMING the word with signs following', and in 1 Corinthians 1:5-8 we find it again: " That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ." Chrisma 'anointing': In honouring 'the words which the Holy Ghost teacheth' and by comparing things spiritual with spiritual, we do not confuse the callings represented by Corinthians and Ephesians. These signs DO NOT FOLLOW them that believe the truth revealed in the dispensation of the Mystery. We do need teaching, and this by 'faithful men' who shall be 'apt to teach'. In The love of Christ

Dear Forum,
(1Jo 2:20) But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. .... (27) But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
