Here are just a few examples: Ps 40:4 Ps 138:6 Pr 16:18 Pr 11:2 Pr 29:23 James 6 I have known several people who who have heard the truth and have taught others and done many "good works" and yet have become proud of their own accomplishments and begun to put themselves above others. This kind of thinking can become like a cancer that hardens their hearts. We are told in Romans to "Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits". In Philippians 2:3 also: Lynn

I have been thinking about the disastrous results that occur when someone becomes selfish and proud. Someone can be given a lot of knowledge and yet if they become "wise in their own eyes", it seems that they can become more and more blind.
Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
Though the Lord be high, yet hath He respect unto the lowly: but the proud He knoweth afar off.
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
A man's pride shall bring him low: but honor shall uphold the humble in spirit.
But He giveth more grace. Wherefore He saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Let nothing be done through strife and vainglory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
