'Romans 1:18 to 3:10 is one large section of this epistle devoted to the establishment of the utter need of all men for the provision of grace in the gospel. It opens with the testimony of creation, and the things that may be known of God; it closes with the testimony of the law, and the knowledge of sin. Man needs something more than knowledge; he needs power to perform, and this he does not possess.' "For I am not ashamed of the gospel," says Paul, "For it is the power of God unto salvation." "For therein is revealed a righteousness of God" (Praise God for His glorious provision in His Son) 'That righteousness' is necessary because of the following revelation of the wrath of God against all unrighteousness. "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven." We were talking in a previous thread of the way truth is withstood by the enemy of our souls, and I find that the truth very much suppressed is the truth concerning the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, the new man which after God is created in 'true righteousness and holiness'. The talk is of looking within, and improving the old man who can never be improved, and vain efforts are made by sincere believers to find some righteousness within themselves. You probably, like myself have had to learn the hard way, that it can't be found. Our righteousness is imputed - we are declared righteous - isn't that just wonderful. Sorry Im getting carried away here. May your joy be full in Christ our Lord
