Posted by Lynn on 9/18/2006, 11:30 am, in reply to "Re: the 2 Mysteries of Ephesians" I am still studying this out. We need to take our time so we can get it right. After reading Ephesians 3:1-7 again, I see that the first verse is a continuation of Ephesians 2. [speaking of the Jews and Gentiles being fellowcitizens of the same household of God] Eph 3:1 In vs 2-4, Paul is looking back to the gospel already preached in past writings: "If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) The "was" shows that this was a past message, correct? Is this "promise" the promise of Gal 3:14? Sorry to be thinking aloud and make this hard to follow, but if this is still in reference to the message already revealed in previous books, then I can see that Eph 3:2-7 are all of a package. Ephesians 3:8 and beyond is another story altogether. Amazing how the Word can always teach something new to us no matter how many times we read the same verses. Thank you Chris for bringing this subject to our attention.

Me again,
"For THIS CAUSE I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles"
-----------
Paul was the apostle to the Gentiles (the uncircumcision) throughout much of the Acts period. Gal 2:8
-----------
What I am still struggling with is verse 6,7: That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and "partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel": Whereof I WAS made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.
"That the blessing of Abraham might come on to the Gentiles through Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith."
