Posted by Lynn on 9/18/2006, 9:02 am, in reply to "Re: the 2 Mysteries of Ephesians" I am not sure now if I understand. Please bear with me. Is the postscript in Romans actually saying the same thing as the beginning of Romans? The wording is so similar. Romans 1:1-5 Romans 16:25,26 Eph 2:11-22 discusses this in detail. vs19-22 The fact that the Gentiles [nations] were to be included in the hope of Israel was not kept a secret. It was spoken by the OT prophets several times. However, the Gentiles as joint-heirs and fellowcitizens with no nation first was never mentioned in previous scriptures. As stated in Eph 2:15, we are now one. A new creation, one new man. Is the first sentence in Ephesians 3 still speaking of the "mystery of Christ" taught in Romans? It still seems to me that the paranthesis need to be kept where they are. "as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Eph 1:12,13 "In whom ye ALSO trusted, AFTER THAT YE HEARD THE WORD OF TRUTH, THE GOSPEL OF YOUR SALVATION" Lynn

Dear Chris and Chuck,
Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God.
(WHICH HE HAD PROMISED AFORE BY HIS PROPHETS IN THE HOLY SCRIPTURES)
Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
By whom we[not I but we] have received grace and apostleship, FOR OBEDIENCE TO THE FAITH AMONG ALL NATIONS, for his name.
Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
BUT NOW IS MADE MANIFEST, AND BY THE SCRIPTURES OF THE PROPHETS, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, MADE KNOWN TO ALL NATIONS FOR THE OBEDIENCE OF FAITH.
-----------
"Prophets" A prophet was one who spoke for God and this applies to those of the New Testament as well as those of the Old Testament.
"Fellowheirs" is found only in Eph 3:6. "Fellowheir" means joint-heir,co-heir, participant in common, heir together, and heir with.
vs 12,13
That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
BUT NOW in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
NOW therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but "fellowcitizens" with the saints, and of the household of God;
And BUILT UPON THE FOUNDATION OF THE APOSTLES AND PROPHETS, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone;
In whom all the building fitly framed TOGETHER groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
IN WHOM YE ALSO ARE BUILDED TOGETHER for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
That we should be to the praise of his glory, WHO FIRST TRUSTED IN CHRIST.
[the gospel taught in Romans]
[THIS "word of truth" is never found until written here by Paul in Ephesians]
