Posted by Chris Our Lord said these words in reply to a question by His disciples (10) "Why speakest thou unto them in parables? (11) He answered and said unto them, 'Because it is given unto you to know the MYSTERIES of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. I feel that a similar blindness has fallen on Christendom today, in that so few see and understand this teaching of the mystery that applies to our day in Ephesians, Colossians, Philippians, 2 Timothy, Titus and Philemon (the prison epistles ). These epistles as you know were written after Paul was given the revelation from our Lord concerning the dispensation of the mystery and its administration, which He speaks of here in Ephesians 3:9 (here fellowship being translated from the word usually translated 'dispensation'). Sorry Chuck, this was not what you wanted I know, but I could not help making mention of this. ------------------- Chuck - looking at Revelation 1:1 - we read that this writing is 'The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto Him, to shew unto His servants things which must shortly come to pass; and He sent and signified it by His angel unto His servant John: Who bare record of the Word of God, and of the TESTIMONY OF JESUS CHRIST, and of all things that he saw,(3) Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.' I believe that this testimony given here by God, through God the Son - who is God manifest - and that it is the spirit of prophecy, yet all prophecy throughout scripture is about Him and God's purposes regarding Him indirectly, so maybe it has a wider application. Sorry to be long winded Chuck, hope it is a blessing to you, even if there are others who can provide you with a fuller, or even different explanation, these are just my thoughts on the matter. Yours in Christ Chris J

In order to answer your question Chuck, I looked up other verses with the word prophecy in them, and came across an interesting portion of scripture, considering that we are looking at the mysteries of Ephesians. In Mark 13:14, " And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall not see, ans shall not perceive: (15) For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. (16) But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear."
(Rev 19:10) " And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS IS THE SPIRIT OF PROPHECY."
