Posted by Lynn on 9/17/2006, 7:59 pm, in reply to "Re: the 2 Mysteries of Ephesians" I have been trying to look at Ephesians 3 as if I have never read it before so that I can have a clear view. The first thing that I notice is that Eph 3:1 all the way to Eph 3:7 is one sentence. Then Eph 3:7 all the way to Eph 3:12 is one sentence. To understand the first sentence, I think we first have to review the postscript he added at the end of Romans. Paul was living in Rome and was writing Ephesians at that time. It is obvious that the last three verses in Romans were added after the close of the letter itself. The "secret" had been revealed to Paul at that time, but he was not allowed to put the truth of the mystery in writing until after the earthly kingdom hope for Israel was closed. When Isaiah 6 was fulfilled and Israel was set aside in Acts 28:25-27, then the later truths were allowed to be shown to the apostles and prophets in Ephesians. The revelation was given solely to Paul. It had never before been known. It could not have been searched out. It had been hid in God from the beginning of the world. A look the ending of the original letter in Romans: The postscript added by Paul: Ro 16:25-27 This postscript is what Paul is referring to in Eph 3:1-7- Eph 3:5 [a prophet or prophetic writing is one that speaks for God] I'll end here for now. Look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Chris,
Ro 16:22-24
I Tertius, who wrote this epistle, salute you in the Lord.
Gaius mine host, and of the whole church, saluteth you. Erastus the chamberlain of the city saluteth you, and Quartus a brother.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Now to him that is of power to establish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began.
But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations [Gentiles] for the obedience of faith:
To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you:
"How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)

The end of Romans was added by Paul during his first Roman imprisonment. [CB note]
Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, AS IT IS NOW REVEALED unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
