Having lost a pet dog when I was only about 3 or 4 years old, and actually seeing the dog being hit by a truck, was very traumatizing to me when I was that little. I can still see the accident in my mind's eye even after all these years. My condolences go out to Shirley on the unexpected loss of her pet dog.
