Posted by AggieDawg on 12/2/2002, 12:01 pm So did we deserve a bid? Probably not. Arizona, by the way is 17-11, but see who their losses are to. Arizona State is 14-11, but they both (as well as Cal, which is 19-11) play in the PAC-10, where 5 teams are in the top 25. Cal Poly? They have a win over Long Beach, and finished strong in the Big West, our former conference. They played Hawaii twice, Santa Barbara twice, Pacific twice, Utah, Stanford, and Long Beach twice. They only won 1 match against a ranked team, but LOOK AT THE SCHEDULE.' The Ags played two ranked teams, Wisconsin, a 3-1 loss, and North Carolina, a 3-0 loss. These matches were the first two of the year, and the Aggies improved as the year went on, but we didn't beat a ranked team, and we only played two. Western Kentucky, the team that beat us in the Sun Belt tourney and finished 33-4, is matched up against the #8 seed, Hawaii, in the first round of the NCAA's. That tells you where our conference is in the reality that is college volleyball. Texas Tech, Am I a fan of NMSU volleyball? Most definitely. We need another strong middle to compete at the next level, and Sarah Silagi is going to have to become the big thumper that we need opposite of Adams. But, hey, if anybody can get them there...it is Mike Jordan...if he stays...

NMSU volleyball is making great strides, and Mike Jordan has done the best job of building a volleyball program here of any coach since I can remember.
(USC, Stanford, Arizona, UCLA, Washington State).
