Posted by Doug OTH, I recently played a new, well-set-up Gold Tone long neck in a shop and LOVED it. Deep, gutsy, resonant base with the capo off. I hope the one I'm just having made now turns out as good. Yeah, the parts are Asian but they looked fine and did the job. So the tuners wear out in a couple of years? They worked fine for the 20 minutes I played it. Save up and put those new Kieth tuners on and you're fixed for life. Good luck

Years ago a friend had one of those Bacon long necks that I played a bit. Now, that was before my Pete Seeger model got stolen. I remember being pretty disappointed in the Bacon with no tone ring compared to the Tubephone in the Vega.
