I do not remember this interview. There were too many interviews and there's been too much time since this occurred. Although everybody sounds slurred, I would suggest that everybody was tired (and maybe hung over) rather than drunk and drugged. Not that the latter wasn't a possibility......far from it. But we were doing a LOT of traveling and performing around that time, possibly 40-some weeks annually. Tough pace to keep up and always sound upbeat. But I thought we sounded coherent.
In those days they always wanted to talk primarily to Bob, and Roger was able to insert himself decently. I was less inclined to do so. In fact, it wasn't until Nick rejoined the group in 1988 that some fans ceased saying "I don't want to talk to you -- where's the original?" As good musically as the Bob/Roger/George was, it didn't regain legitimacy until Nick rejoined. After that, nobody ever again asked that rude question....ever.
So many wonderful KT memories for me are from those days with Roger from 1976-85. We worked hard, traveled hard, played hard. Hardly a day went by without lots of laughter. And you could fit three suitcases and four instruments all in the trunk of a rental car!!!
