Re: New Marvinettes video
That clip was made here at a local Panama City TV station. I live in Panama City. They are playing tonight in Panama City Beach. Sounds like they are playing in a Hotel meeting room. I won't ever pay to see these guys.
Stewart never got enough credit for his guitar playing with the Trio. Think of how he played on "Chilly Winds" and "Flowers." His guitar work, more than his banjo work, was instrumental (bad pun) to the Stewart Trio's sound. After he left the Trio, his acoustic guitar playing got even better (e.g. "Eyes of Sweet Virginia").
Yeah, it's really tricky to play a descending major scale on a six string.
If they wanted to be faithful to their models ,they should remember that the tenor guitar is not suitable for the pleasant riff which was played by J.Stewart. But that's probably too much for the 2 current performing six-string guitar players.
You're right. Don is the only one who lives what he 's singing.
I find it funny that the "adopted son" language is out...and also that Marvin doesn't seem to have a joy in talking about the history of the KT..nor a real sense of "gravitas" when talking the history of the KT...and Don continues to be the ONLY interesting thing about this line up..
