It was submitted for nomination in the Grammy process. At the time, three years ago(?) four(?), there were two categories for Folk Music: traditional and contemporary. It was entered in the traditional category; after all, this was The Kingston Trio, a 60-year-old entity singing songs such as “Deck The Halls,” “Silent Night,” “Hark The Herald Angels Sing,” “Fum Fum Fum,” “Mary’s Boy Child" and other traditional songs. I do believe we had an excellent chance to win that Grammy. But………(why is there always a “but?”)……NARAS changed it to the contemporary category, which dropped us into a group of almost 300 artists. When I inquired from NARAS under what criteria they had changed the category from traditional to contemporary, their response to me was that they could change it to whatever they wanted to.
