Well, I never thought of that as being an elephant in the room. I think we're all aware of Bob's mortality, especially given his present health issues. And personally, I think we've tapped out all the info he's going to give up about the Kingston Trio. Apparently his memory is nowhere near where it was. And also, I don't think he was ever going to give up stories or information personal to him or Nick, Dave or John. I'm sure he'll keep that to himself forever. As they say, what happens in Vegas...
Thank you, Rick.
Y'know, I gotta admit, there's a white elephant in the room, I'm trying to avoid talking about.
When I called my friend Brucester in Burlington, Vermont about that "Jeff" character on Xroads, he nearly bit my head off!
It wasn't so much Ken Laing suggesting Bruce may be posing as "Jeff." Fact is, "Jeff" turned out to be some guy named Myron who was trying to get revenge on Bruce for meddling. (Myron's girlfriend was involved)
Anyway, the real reason I got chewed out was because Bruce assumed my phone call to his private cell meant Bob Shane must have passed away!
No wonder he was furious.
The elephant in the room basically comes down to 3 words:
Losing Bob Shane
Maybe it's time to share stories about Bob while he is still with us.
It's scary, because we already lost Dave & Nick & John (and others associated with the Kingston Trio)
I always think of Bob Shane as that brave bullfighter in his song El Matador:
"I will be numero uno, torero fino, tonite she'll dream of me."
There's the bullfighter; there's the wind they call Mariah, and now there's that awful elephant standing in the room.
VIVA BOB SHANE
Good to have you back Craig!
Just wanted to thank you again for the info
you gave me on Xroads. I also made it a point to
sign in on 'Folk USA' - which means I tried several passwords and lo and behold ----
Here I am!
(finally made it back) :>))
