Re: It all started with this post..
Very impressive, Rick! The awards only the best LEO's get.
Thanks folks. And to anyone who thinks I might have been hurt my Marvin's comments, believe me, I was not. I know the kind of cop I was. And I know what I accomplished in just months shy of thirty years on the job, protecting and serving. Not to blow my own trumpet or pat myself on the back, but this is how I retired. With the obvious exception of the flag at the top, these are all awards or in many cases multiple awards, I earned. The one right under the flag is Police Officer of the Year. The others are Police Officer of the Quarter, Meritorious Police Service, Ribbons of Commendation, Unit Citations, Investigators Ribbons, and Life Saving Awards, of which I believe there were about eight or ten. After a while, I stopped gluing the little numbers on them. And, there's even a connection to the Trio here. One of the life saving awards was for saving a choking victim by clearing one of those fruit bar things that had got caught in his windpipe and doing CPR until medics arrived and got him to the hospital. He went on to live many more years. And I won't mention his name, but I found out years later, from George himself, that the man was a good friend of George. So, Marvin, I'm proud of what I did with my life. I was also an EMT for over twenty years, a volunteer firefighter and I am proud to say I am a U.S. Army Vietnam Combat Veteran. What have you done Marvin? Make a few B rated movies then form a third rate singing group and stab some good friends in the back to try and take their place? Hah, good luck with that. Keep telling yourself you did no harm and you can sing and play. Oh yeah, one other thing. See my badge number? 7? well, we all had three digit numbers. And my three digit number, though it's not on the badge was 007! That's right, Daly. Rick Daly. And I like my chocolate milk shakes shaken, not stirred!
