Re: Something you don't see in church every Sunday
And I thank you for allowing me to join you at that party at Billy Ed Wheeler's house, George. I know I didn't talk to you much that night - you were talking to Billy Ed a lot and I was busy schmoozing the room. I had a blast. Best party I've been to in years, and I loved seeing Billy Ed's artwork. The man is multi-talented.
And I am glad your fans got to give you a proper send off that night. You more than earned it. Love ya, Brooksie
.......with whom I'm having dinner Thursday night.
I'm currently in Asheville (Swannanoa, really), teaching at the "Traditional Song Week" portion of the Swannanoa Gathering at Warren-Wilson College. The talent here is amazing, and I'm delighted to be such a contributing part to it.
I must admit that my thoughts have drifted back to September when I gave my last performance ever as one of the KT just a few miles from here in downtown Asheville. The next day, Cindy and her sister and I (and a couple other dear friends) went to Billy Edd's house for a party sponsored by the Wheelers and Dr. Doug Orr, President Emeritus of W-W College.
Then we drove up the Blue Ridge Parkway to Boone where we visited with my sister and then did a side trip to visit the grave of Tom Dula. Quite an illustrious finish to my 41-year career in that group.
