to me, the only 12-string worth listening to is the '62-'64 Gibson B45-12. un-imploded ones (extremely lightly built, no tailpiece), are rarer than hen's teeth (i guess that's the same as: rare as...
). everything else is just a 60's-jangly noisemaker to me. a rickenbacker, with their reversed octave strings, is ok, played by oh, say, Roger. had A '64 B45-12 for a long time in "vintage mint" condition, but sold it to a friend who was a vintage gibson collector (and guitar-player extraordinaire) as i no longer found a use for a 12. but those particular gibsons are sweet - ask ol' Gord.
