Re: George's new Taylor
Congrats on your new Taylor George. Just happens to be my favorite Taylor model. You'll be very happy "plugging in" with this guitar. They've done a great job with their electronics. Differences? Of course, but you can handle as well as appreciate them. I truly enjoy all of my small fleet of Martin, Gibson, Taylor, Guild and yes Ovation instruments. All different in some way and all wonderful friends. Enjoy! Hoping to catch you and partners in a concert in the future.
I visited the Taylor factory in El Cajon last month and met with the Artist Rep there. I played a dozen guitars and kept returning to the K24ce. I've always been curious about the Taylor neck, and became more curious about their new ES2 electronics and their new V-bracing.
I will be performing with this instrument (and a banjo) this Wednesday at the Tower Theater in Bend, OR with the "Lonesome Traveler" cast and Peter Yarrow. I will be plugged in (well....the guitar will be) and the sound system will be operated by a real pro (Bruce, who does sound at the Rubicon Theater in Ventura, CA) so I expect to learn a lot about this new instrument. As with any machine, its limitations will be those of the player, not the played.
I'll give a full report for those who may be interested. Yes, I consider this a new beginning (are there any old beginnings?). Although this concert is a one-of, it will be my first public performance since my last concert with The Kingston Trio in September. Thanks go out to Jim O'Neil (writer of "Lonesome Traveler"), the talented cast, and to Peter Yarrow.
