A number of years ago, PP&M played at a theater here in town and I went to the show. After the show, Paul and Dick Kniss their bass player were hanging out on stage, collecting their gear, and I went up to them to ask for their autographs. They were surprised I knew who they were. Dick grabbed his bass and left, but Paul sat on the edge of the stage and we chatted for about a half hour. He was very friendly and engaging. I met him one more time after a Chad Mitchell Trio show I was fortunate enough to see.
: I love listening to Presto play banjo!
: Folkie, but enough three finger to keep me
: interested. He never got to play as much
: banjo with PPM.
: Michael Johnson passed last year. I got to
: play with him one evening but didn't really
: get a chance to visit with him. I wonder if
: John Birchler remembers anything about him?
: This is embarrassing-at the time, I didn't
: put two and tow together and realize who he
: was. My loss.
