This is just a "late night, out of my mind" thought. We know at least this much of what went down.
1. B&B needed $$, so they "leased the Kingston "Brand" to Josh Reynolds & one other party we know of.
It gave the Shanes (in their "golden years") some $$ flow with no more bookkeeping and headaches. Can we at least agree on that small detail?
2. The transfer of employees was mishandled. Period. So sorry that even took place. Luckily, they were served at a sound check.
3. If "genetics" were a true factor here, then Josh Reynolds is truly the "leader", "lease holder", so why not pick someone like David Peel for "Shanes part. Younger, stronger musician, and had already worked with Bob in the past. Just makes sense. I know there's a sense of loyalty to a cousin, but if the person hasn't got the "chops"? (and I'm not picking on Mike M. here, it's only a wide open observation - could be anyone)...
4. As for the third member, pick a multi talented guy who can sing and pick like hell. Have fun and run with the plan and don't give a damn. Tim is great but needs to stand out more if he's doin' "Johnnie Stew"... just sayin.
Not enough thought put into this because it was "family" perhaps, and not talent that was looked at that put this "new" Trio together.
I don't know! This is all guess work on my part because I ate to much and can't sleep.
It's Josh Reynolds baby. I like the guy. His Dad was OK to me.
I read somewhere that John August Lee helped trained these cats into what they are. To bad there aren't more old films or video tapes of NBD & NBJ, because the could really use them for guidance. John Lee didi a good job, still... more time would be needed.
But personally, I still find the David Peel selection intriguing.
Maybe, Tom Guard would be interested. If both Dave, Tom and Josh did this...
TR - out!
