I enjoyed every song, end even with a brace on, George killed it on the banjo! But the highlight of the show for me was George singing Mary's Boy Child. It's one of my very favorite Christmas songs and it really showcases George's beautiful voice. I had tears in my eyes by the end of the song. Not to take away from Bill and Rick's solos, but George just does a wonderful job on the song.
One thing that I got a chuckle out of, and blame my attention to detail, which probably comes from thirty years of police work, was at a point in the video, (and correct me if I'm wrong) every other shot of Rick had his button down collar buttoned, unbuttoned, buttoned, unbuttoned. I'm guessing that it was a matter of video editing of different takes? And if it was, it just amazes me the job that was done. Had I not noticed the collar, I would never have noticed any hiccups in video or audio. But I appreciate the fact that all this work was done to make such a seamless, wonderful show.
But all in all, what a great, yet sad sendoff to George, Bill, Rick and Paul. During the credits, when it showed "The Kingston Trio, 2005 - 2017", it looked like an obituary or an engraving on a tombstone and I got a big lump in my throat. Oh, and I'm sorry, I forgot to mention the great job Paul did on the bass during the show. It sounded great as it always does, but somehow, he managed to go above and beyond for this one. Thanks Paul!
So, if you haven't bought this video yet, don't put it off. It's one for the ages, and will be part of Christmas for me for the rest of my life!
