Hello there,
just came across your wonderful site and am very impressed.
Wondered if you would be interested to put a link to folk band The Flowing from the Medway Towns in Kent UK. It would be very much appreciated. Below is some info and links. Thanks for your time.
Kind regards, Anne-Marie
Timeless and could have existed at any point over the past forty years or so, the passion and conviction make The Flowing entirely of the moment.
Originating from The Medway Towns, the home of Billy Childish. The Flowing perform solo or full band. Performed extensively throughout the south east of england and London. Featured live sets and interviews on local radio. Participated in charity events such as Oxjam and Music against racism. Played along with Bellowhead and Cara Dillon at the Sweeps Festival in Rochester April 2010.
The new album... Garden Of England consists of fifteen tracks from the heart and soul of Dave Pickett. It explores his experiences of life and living in the Medway Towns.
The music has been described as a downbeat, sea shanty vibe. World folk, country, reggae. Reminds you obscurely of The Rogue’s Gallery compilation.
Well known artist Lupen Crook of Lupen Crook and The Murder Birds said quote..”The Flowing are this rustic, torn up dirty little band. A country blues sorta thing, but very punk, if only in spirit. The songs are great and they have that heart and soul in what they do type of feel, which I consider essential”.
The album Garden Of England has been produced entirely at home from composing to performing and recording and production. Tracks 1, 8 and 13 are the product of a internet collaboration with singer songwriter Agathe Peyrat from Paris, France.
The album launch was at The Barge in Gillingham in the 20th November 2010. It proved to be a great success, all the CD’s sold out. The album is available now on CD Baby and available on Itunes and Amazon from 15th December.
The Flowing are.....
David Pickett Vocals, guitar, mandolin, uke, trumpet, accordion and keys
Danial Sams Guitar
Richard Tunbridge Bass
Sophie Williams Vocals
Driver Bass
John Whitiker Trumpet
Agathe Peyrate Vocals
