I've been listening to two albums non-stop lately: "Time To Think" and "Punch The Big Guy". For some reason it isn't sinking in that my hero John Stewart passed away. Yes, I know about his songs and his legacy living forever but truth be known John left us far too soon. His untimely death came out of nowhere and it really hit me hard. I'm walking around in a fog, teary-eyed and in a complete state of shock.
I want to thank Rick Daly and this wonderful website of his "Folk U.S.A." for providing some comfort. It's obvious we share the same pain and it makes it just a tad easier to bear.
Rick may have referred to John Stewart as America's Folk-Singer, but we loved John here in Canada too. I know I'll be playing all his albums and listening to his songs from The Cumberland Three, The Kingston Trio, Darwin's Army and John Stewart's solo albums for weeks and months to come. The sadness is not going to leave me for quite some time:
"No matter how hard I try, no matter how many days go by, no matter how many tears I cry, I still can't say goodbye." (Chet Atkins)
