A friend gave me a Contessa Banjo last week that he bought in the late 60's or early 70's. It looked pretty bad when he opened that old case. Smelled like old furniture. I spent 4 hours cleanng it up. Once I polished it and added oil to the finger board it looked great. Last thing I had to do was put strings on it. Once I tuned it and played it, it rang out like my RB205 but louder and clearer. It being an arch top made it even have a greater sound. I surfed the web to find more about this banjo and most site showed it worth between 100 - 800$. PLays great, looks different but nice. The finger board has a smaller width which makes me focus on good chords and roll patterns. Anyway I see you have one and let you gibson go becasue of the sound of the cantessa. I believe the Cantessa has a good sweet spot for sound and the standard thin bridge really makes it jump out at you when played. later tombluegrass
