Carlos, I can't agree with you more. OBOT, which should be more available in the U.S. where you just go to a doctor and receive your medication, cheap and effective. No counselors, no groups. Of course you have to show compliance with a monthly UA but that's understandable.
For example, a doctor that has one of the few OBOT type clnics is in Maryland. Monthly patients pay about $80/month. This doctor cares about what he's doing, you can tell when you speak to him. He thinks it's a crime that people that truly need this medication should have to pay so much for something that literally costs pennies to produce.
But it seems the FDA wants to actually restrict the number of physicians that can prescribe or dispense methadone along with other opiates. They want the doctors to be more aware of these drugs and the potential for abuse. But they have NO plans to allow physicians to prescribe methadone for addiction, except for the few OBOT docs that already do it (they dispense, they don't prescribe).
I've written letters to the FDA and the DEA, no replies.
