The 7th National Harm Reduction Coalition Conference will be held in Miami, Florida November 13 - 16, 2008. At the Hilton Hotel (Old Omni) 17th Street and Biscayne Blvd. Just show up to see what is going own. They will welcome you being their. We are looking for your doctors and social service professionals who might want to particiapte.
The Harm Reduction Coalition provides a set of practical strategies that
reduces harm and the negative consequence of drug use. The Coalition
is an evidence and research based organizations meeting the drug users
"where they are at". It strategies reflects specific individual as well as
communities needs. Although there is no universal definition of harm reduction,
the formula consider for harm reduction does have a number of principles
that will be learned throughout the conference. Special attention is given to HIV,
Hepatitis and other blood carrying diseases; Drug Treatment on demand;
over dose prevention; safer use; syringe access; public health; vain care;
compassion, professional best practice; promote research and development
open dialog with the scientific community. The conference seeks to see the end
of the morale crushing, exodus-inducing politicization of institutions and the
censorship of accurate information.

The last conference in Miami in 2000 was attended by over 1500 conference participants,

On the 1st day of the conference, Thursday 13 of November at 7pm there will be a workshop on the need to start Syringe Exchange Programs in Miami, Florida or any place else in Florida and/or other locations where is needed. The workshop will be facilitated by leaders of organizations who have been doing Needles Exchange Program for over 20 years.
Leaders from the North America Syringe Exchange Network http://www.nasen.org/ , who can provide Starter Kits and Technical Support
as well as cheaper cost of needed equipment will also be available for discussion. Any interested party is invited to participate. We actively seek the participation of church members and pastors; the health related professionals; attorneys; government officials as well as employees and local authorities.
Persons who wish to attend the Syringe Exchange Workshop do not need to be a participant to the conference. You may contact me about

We know that syringe exchange works; we know the political will is more open to today's reality. Blacks and Hispanics are amongst the largest percentage of new HIV and Hepatitis new cases due to IV Drug use. We are working against the silences, censorship, myth, misinformation and lack of action. Please contribute to the solution.
