anybody else see too something of a retrospective on the film maker guy debord on the same cinema show which is being broadcast from cannes this week. i thought it interesting. particularly the criticism of his meanderings in the film ''la societe du spectacle'' (someone over at imdb says that it could have been said in 60 seconds what he took an hour n half to say) that society impose conformity and the empty pursuit of commodities, (which this in turn, reminded me of the communist/anarchists cry that ''capitalism is slavery. consumerism a drug''). al very interesting i thought. think im turning into a commie
but dont get me wrong, i like the products of consumerism and dont see much wrong with consumption, or at least nothing which couldnt be remedied. u know, less of the disposable culture etc, less of the devil may care attitiude etc. but who dont like nice things right. shame its often the result of exploitation
plus, for gawds sake people, dont let this message go unanswered please. lets get some debate going, even if its only to say what capitalist sell-out stooges models are promoting land fill, sorry, i mean packaging containing beauty products which will later become land fill. something, anything
