Posted by roland on 26/10/2007, 16:50:19 what does all this have to do with maren u might ask. well it was from taking an interwst in her that i learned all the rest so perhaps there is some truth in the goethe quote she looke lovely in the film too. extremely young though imdb tells me she was already 26. could have passed for anwhere between 18 - 21 IMO and its another sad testemant to a all too brief acting career anyway, bora bora, near taihiti, i read is a island in the southern pacific for those who dont know and aren was perfectly cast i think as a polynesian beauty on account of her having some south sea islander in her mixed heritage background. this is the same group of island upon which painter paul gaugain settled and ultimately died. this is the same gaugain who married a danish women much like maren is the daughter of a danish father. hence the typically danish surname. gaugain was played too by actor anthony quinn in the van gogh biopic 'lust for life' as im sure u all know and it was mr quinn who i heard just last night deliver those famous lines from 'zorba the greek' when asked by a young man if he was married. 'yes' he said 'married with house and children. the full catastrophe' or something like that. im paraphrasing here. very funny anyway i thought and perhaps a lesson for some of us. got this film too for the knock down bargain basement price of around 10 of your US dollars from play.com who give a fast service with a well packaged product i thought. film aint as bad as imdb reviews would have u believe either. theres some nice little humourous touches and some nice local 'authentic' looking background. if your like me and have nothing better to do then i'd reccomend a copy, if your a sentimental maudlin fool like me

this is what goethe said and it seems the case with me. after my last post on actress maren jensen i purchased a copy of the only film of hers that i havent seen yet. it was beyond the reef: shark boy of bora bora and from this steemed a whole host of related stuf that makes me think what a funny (though possibly just small) world it is.
