Posted by paolo on 25/6/2007, 23:24:02 Anna Chakvetadze and Jelena Jankovic share a joke after their clash in the final at the Ordina Open in 's-Hertogenbosch, Holland last week. It appears that Jelena's humour is infectious but I wonder if Anna would look so happy if she had lost. I have been monitoring Miss Chakvetadze's progress with some interest this year. Unfortunately I have not had the chance to ever see her play because Sky and Eurosport never seem to show her. I think she holds the 'best kept secret' title. After her defeat to Sharapova in the French open quarter finals, Peter Fleming dismissed Anna in just one short sentence but at number seven in the world rankings she must be doing something right! From what I can ascertain Anna is a player who relies on guile and cleverness rather than power. I'm hoping she has a good run at Wimbledon so that I get a chance to see her. Incidentally, I know she plays for Russia but isn't Chakvetadze a Georgian name? Although everyone is tipping Serena Williams or Henin to win the title, I'm going to go for Jankovic. She is due a major breakthrough so why not now? She does play too much though.
