Of course there's, as always, the question how faithfully the scan represents the photograph. On comparing again my scans with their sources I found eg that the background in the original photo #2 is more blurry and the model's face less colourful than in my scan. Nonetheless I hope that they're not that bad, these scans.

I guess you mean pix # 2&3. I don't think that the pale look of Anja in these photos is an "unintended consequence of striving for perfection". What "perfection" would the photographer have in mind? IMHO we should not look here for an (unsuccessfully) attempted perfection but for a deliberate artist's choice to present the model in a somewhat "spectral" or "ghostly" manner. That's why she's set against a backround of an empty room with huge windows (nothing's seen behind them either), filled only with cool, blue & pink light. And that's why she's been almost deprived of her natural glow. That's how I see these pics.
