I'm 18 and I live in wisconsin, I was first diagnosed with scoliosis when i was 15 and my curve in the mid back(thoracic) was about 60 degrees. They told me on the spot that I had to have surgery. All my life I've been against surgery of any type so at the time I was like, screw that I'd rather die(I actually said that to the surgeon when we had a meeting with him). I had gotten an xray recently and learned that my curve had progressed to over 100 degrees. The chiropractor in my town told me of another chiropractor he met at a seminar that lived in Nevada that treats scoliosis with a procedure that uses excercising and tractioning to correct abnormal curves in the spine. so my mom flew me out to nevada for 2 weeks to let the chiropractor try to work on my spine. Unfortunately my scoliosis had progressed too much and i had stopped growing so my spine had stiffened so there was little improvement from his treatment(although he straightened out my posture like crazy). So after the 2 weeks he told me that I needed surgery and that if i keep letting my curve get worse it could even be fatal. So now I've scheduled to have surgery done in April. I would seriously reccomend that anyone with scoliosis that isnt severe enough to have surgery to seek out a chiropractor who treats scoliosis using tractioning or muscle strengthening(there are many all over the US) I know of one in Minnesota who has had tons of success with his treatment.
